The Question text: How does Math Place balance math with other areas of the curriculum?

Diane Stang says: What we also want to do is really balance math with the other learning that students are engaged in. This is really important because we want them to see that math is an important part of their lives. So we’ve incorporated language arts, for example. We’ve incorporated in the lessons, the kids read through the books the first time. They use their comprehension strategies to understand the text and this really helps to set the context for the math. Then the second time they read through, they’re being math detectives and they’re actually delving into the math that’s embedded in there.
